Last night, I did my Exercise #2 for the week at L.A. Fatness, as my hubby calls it. I did Body Works Plus Abs, which consisted of weights, mats, and a step. I only felt slightly lame for putting down my 5-lb. weights occasionally and lifting air.
Today was a busy day in the life of the Five Things project - I went over to my parents' house to do a little house-sitting, and while I was there, I ate breakfast and researched activities for my Teaching Binder on TeacherVision.com - now I fully understand the wonder that is Capture the Flag.
I also spent a good amount of time working on the Garage Sale item on my list - which meant digging through my old closet and my old bedroom to finally clear out all the junk that has been sitting in my closet, under the bed, in drawers, and on shelves - some of it dating back to elementary school (hello, 6th Grade Compass Rose!). I finally allowed myself to tear out all those notes from undergrad - as much as I loved Statistics, I already have plenty of bedside reading material to put me to sleep.
I salvaged a few items of clothing, magazine articles, college papers, greeting cards, and other memorabilia that I might care about a few years from now. I read a magazine article that suggested taking pictures of school projects you can't bear to just throw away - so I took close-ups of my Compass Rose, Greek God thrones, cool R.L. Stine book report, and topographical map of the fictional land Broadway Island (7th Grade social studies). Now they will live forever in digital form, and I can send them to the recycling center where they will be born into some other kid's priceless school project someday...
This is a blog about changing bad habits, forming new ones, and believing that goals are more easily achieved when you share them with others. All you need is one good friend, or at least another motivated person, to keep you on track. What do you want to achieve this month? Finally cleaning that garage? Going out for that dream job? Getting in shape? Finishing that book you've been reading for a year? Writing a book? Or maybe just remembering to eat breakfast every day. The more specific the better. Make a list of Five Things, share it with a friend, and challenge each other to complete it! My friend Kit and I are tackling new projects monthly - join us, and tell a friend! =-)
